First produced by Illusion Theatre in 1994 to rave reviews, Hard Times Come Again No More is based on the writings of activist Meridel Le Sueur, whose papers are housed as a special collection at the Augsburg College Library.

Hard Times is a poignant and powerful story set during the 1934 Minneapolis truckers' strike, and against the backdrop of the Great Depression. Writer/director Martha Boesing and music director Paul Boesing, active theater professionals for 30 years, have been influential on drama in the Twin Cities and elsewhere.
