Augsburg College to host the national Lutheran Summer Music Camp
Augsburg College is pleased to announce that they will host Lutheran Summer Music (LSM), the national Lutheran high school music camp based in Minneapolis, Minnesota. LSM 2001 will be held June 24-July 22 and is open to student musicians grades 8-12.
"LSM 2001 will enjoy special new program dimensions at Augsburg College," says Victor Gebauer, Executive Director of LSM. "Augsburg offers the caring environment, personal security, sense of community, and musical commitment of the Lutheran colleges we visit, such as St. Olaf, Valparaiso, Luther, and Augustana. Augsburg's location also puts us in touch with the extraordinary rich arts and music resources of the Twin Cities."
LSM offers four weeks of intensive music training from some of the best artists and educators. The major conductors for LSM 2001 include Antoni Bonetti of Brisbane Australia; Dr. Jeffrey Doebler and Dr Lorraine Brugh of Valparaiso University; and Dr David Mennicke of Concordia University, St. Paul.
LSM's curriculum offers band, orchestra, and choir; musicianship, church music, and music literature classes; optional ensembles of handbells, jazz band, early historical instruments, and chapel choir; enrichment courses in art, theatre, and dance; and lessons with excellent faculty artists in the student's primary and secondary instruments.
